Monday
Department of Eagles

If you're a fan of the choir boys in Grizzly Bear, you're no doubt familiar with Daniel Rossen's sweet and keening vocal prowess. They are highlighted in his other band with friend Fred Nicolaus, Department of Eagles (not to be confused with The Eagles or Eagles of Death Metal), who make their live debut tonight, in anticipation of their forthcoming 4AD disc, In Ear Park.
The Bell House 149 7th Street 7:30pm $10
Tuesday
The Present, Soft Circle, Kria Brekkan

Not named for him (but rather for Santa himself), I still like to imagine that this is Rusty Santos's party house. The singer-songwriter (who gained notoriety for helping to record his friends in the Animal Collective on their breakout Sung Tongs album) presents his new band The Present here. With Soft Circle and Kria Brekkan.
Santos Party House 100 Lafayette St. 21+ $10

Wednesday
The Wedding Present, Tulsa
A friend and I joked the other night that while we don't particularly care for The Birthday Party, we do like The Wedding Present. Okay, guess you had to be there for that one, but the return of the Wedding Present (on a roll here) is a good thing.
Bowery Ballroom 6 Delancey St. 18+ $15/$17

Thursday
Wire, Times New Viking

Post-punk godfathers Wire again headline a free show (they played South Street Seaport earlier this summer) with one of their grandchildren, the spiky, poppy, synth-splatting noisemakers Times New Viking.
The Fillmore New York at Irving Plaza (tickets required) 7:30 PM free

Friday
Of Montreal, Love is All

The recent feature on Of Montreal and its brain trust, Kevin Barnes, in the new issue of Spin Magazine "outed" Mr. Barnes as a volleyball fanatic (there's also a photo of a nude Mr. Barnes with a birthday cake and its lone candle strategically placed). In support of their new indie-glam-disco-twee-pop work, Skeletal Lamping, they pull through town tonight with their garage sale stage show.
Roseland Ballroom 239 W 52nd St. All Ages 7:00 PM $23

Saturday
Vivian Girls, Pink Reason, The Beets

It-girls Vivian Girls, celebrating the non-limited release of their debut on In the Red (the original edition trades for handsome sums on eBay), headline tonight with fellow lo-fi trio Pink Reason (though that trio uses a bit more drum machine crunch in their beats).
