While huge rock stars in their native Japan, for whatever reason, Yura Yura Teikoku (their name translates as "Unbalanced Empire") has never quite translated into one of those Japanese acts that westerners fetishize (see Keiji Haino, Boredoms, Les Rallizes Denudes, etc.). Perhaps their killer power trio sound doesn't quite have the cult of personality as the above acts, but with the DFA's recent announcement of a domestic release of the band's newest album, Hollow Me / Beautiful in early 2009. In anticipation, the label is releasing a limited, hand-screened 12" of YYT's "Dekinai" to coincide with two stateside shows, Sunday at the Music Hall of Williamsburg and Monday at Maxwell's in New Jersey. With Invisible Conga People and Obits in NY and Yo La Tenog-side project Dump in NJ.
