In Los Angeles, our electronic and dance scene isn't quite what it could be, and often when a group or DJ comes to town it means trudging to a place you normally wouldn't go. Obviously it could be worse than the Standard Downtown on a Sunday afternoon, but it's not the first place you'd think of to go check out Hercules and Love Affair.
But that's the way it goes in the Southland. Still, after a full day of rock at the Eagle Rock Fest or Detour on Saturday, a nice day poolside with some disco should be pretty sweet. If you've never been to the Standard Downtown, it's not that bad. It's a cool space and if you get their early enough you can avoid the lines. Just make sure you've budgeted for their twelve dollar drinks.
