It seems we can't go a week without hearing a reunion story, but this one is actually not too bad.
Maria Taylor and
Orenda Fink, the duo formerly known as
Azure Ray are set to reunite onstage November 30th at the
Troubadour. It'll be their first show together in just about four years, and apparently it's a one-time only show.
When Maria Taylor first moved to LA last year, it seemed like Azure Ray would stay broken up for good, but I guess in this day and age anything is possible and distance is less a hindrance than it once was. And instead of making some massive, drawn-out tour, the girls are just doing a one-off show at the Troubadour. So hardcore fans in other climes might miss out, but the band doesn't run the risk of wearing out their welcome.
According to the band's publicist, the girls decided to get back together after a visit this summer.
"After I moved from Omaha to LA, Orenda came out for a visit," Taylor said. "We had so much fun hanging out and reminiscing about the band. We're both in great places musically, so it seemed like the perfect time to perform the old songs together and remember where we came from."
They broke up back in 2004 and have since embarked on solo projects. Tickets are $15 are on sale now.
Great post! And here's some more info about it:
