If you were looking for something to do this Halloween, you could do worse than hit up the Hard Haunted Mansion. Costumes, Justice, drinks, dancing. What more do you want?
One man who's trying to bring LA's dance scene up to world class
standards is Gary Richards. Maybe you remember him from the original
Electric Daisy Carnival, back when LA had a thriving rave scene. In
2009 he's still packing the dance floors, and this month he's about to
blow out the second annual Hard Haunted Mansion on Halloween night.
With artists like Justice, Soulwax, Boys Noize, Simian Mobile Disco, Deadmau5, Crystal Castles, and The Crookers, it's obviously going to be bonkers.

"I think the LA dance scene is thriving," said Richards. "I think Hard is a step in the right direction because we are bringing amazing talent to LA and turning the party people on to something new and exciting in the electronic world of music."
And that's definitely the truth. The Hard parties have been crazy successful so far, and the bands are more than happy to come back. "Everyone that we book loves la and always loves to play here," said Richards.
Also of note is the fact the the halloween party is all ages. Richards reports that they had so many requests from younger folk when the parties were 21+, that they decided to give it a try this time. "Every concert that you go to in LA is all ages, so why should we reserve our events for 21+ only?"
Obviously costumes are strongly encouraged, but there's a few minor limitations. No one can dress up like a member of the LAPD, no fake weapons are allowed, and no chains or sticks or anything that could dangerous. It's just common sense stuff.
The party starts at 8 p.m. on the 31st and rages until 4 a.m.. It's at the Shrine Expo Hall, which is down at 700 W. 32nd St., just up the road from USC. It's easy to find. Presale tickets are already gone, but there's still plenty of regular tickets left here.
